Day One!!

Well we thought we were all packed up and ready to go, but it took us an extra 1/2 hour to get on the road... a stop to drop something off at Glenn's and we were on our way!

We took a different route than our usual 'go right through' in New Brunswick, following route 11 around, bringing us to the Kouchibouguac National Park just in time for lunch. This is a beautiful park, maybe we'll come and stay another time.

Route 11 is much more interesting than the main highway, and we enjoyed passing through the small towns. This is the Acadian Peninsula, and most of the houses were well decorated with the Acadian colors and flags. Being Saturday, it was also yard sale day! We didn't stop, but we had to watch out for those who did.

Our intended goal was Pokemouche, but we went a little further to the town of Caraquet, and found a lovely campground right on the Baie des Chaleurs. Our site is just behind the tenting area directly on the water.

Since one of our goals is to hike or bike in each province that we pass through, the bikes came down before the chairs came out. We had passed a 'Fromagerie' on our way and decided to cycle back to it. We hadn't noticed the hills in the truck :) But Mike's reward was sitting and eating some of the curds while looking out over the water (while I do the blog).

Absolutely beautiful day! Excellent travelling.
